“Trump’s uncle worked at MIT in the 1940s… and he feels something about MIT; He knows that’s prestigious, he knows it sounds like he’s smart — but it was his uncle 80 years ago.”
During a campaign stop in Las Vegas, former President Donald Trump shared an unusual story about preferring electrocution over a shark attack, referencing his connection to MIT. #MorningJoe hosts JoevScarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist react to Trump’s remarks — with Geist pointing out the true nature of Trumps “relationship to MIT.”
An MIT spokesperson confirmed earlier this year that Trump’s uncle, John Trump, began working as a research associate after gaining his doctorate from the university in 1933, became an assistant professor in electrical engineering in 1936, was promoted to professor in 1952 and taught until 1973, and a senior lecturer/professor emeritus until he died in 1985.
